Quote from "the Secret"
If you look very carefully when it comes to... the power of our mind and the poiwer of our intention in our daily loves, it's all around us. All we have to do is open our eyes and look.

Dr. John DeMartini

You can see the law of attraction everywhere. You draw everything to yourself. The people, the job, the circumstances, the health, the wealth, the debt, the joy, the car that you drive, the community that you're in. And you've drawn them all to you, like a magnet. What you think about you bring about. Your whole life is a manifestation of the thoughts that go on in your head.

Lisa Nichols

Good stuff; very good stuff indeed. I've fallen down a bit on quoting it every day but life intervened *grin* but stuff getting done is good too!

Busy day; be nice to yourselves and be nice to one another, ok?

*hugs*

Woot! Apparently KRPS is airing the weekly entertainment schedule, which includes Queen's Gambit's concert on July 24th in Parsons, KS...which is the day before ConEstoga. Not only will Queen's Gambit be appearing and playing but several of us will be on some of the panels during the Con. Kim and I are doing a panel on "Unreal Costumes for Real People" and I'll be helping out on a beading panel and then Bruce and I (and the other two, if they wish) will be on the two filk panels.

Seymoure, brother dear, if you have any ideas for filking any of the songs that we already do, that would be simply AWESOME!

The Secret

On Tuesday, Becky and I went to Barnes and Noble as well as to JoAnne's fabrics. Along with a couple Misty Lackey books, I also picked up "the Secret" on a whim. Well, not quite a whim; I've been curious and it was there and on sale so I got a copy.

Glad I did. There's nothing really new in it; things I say and believe but it's the concentration of the visualizations and the intensity of the joyfulness in the book that contains the secret of its impact.

And the next day we come up with the idea for this new business. Coincidence? I really don't believe in coincidence and haven't for a long time.

So in the interest of sharing this joyfulness and spreading it further, I've decided to post a bit of the book every day. Read it or not, believe it or not...but I KNOW that increasing the flow of positive, joyful thoughts everyday is a powerful thing.

So for this evening:

The Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction says like attracts like, so as you think a thought, you are also attracting like thoughts to you.

The only reason why people do not have what they want is because they are thinking more about what they don't want than what they do want.

The law of attraction is a law of nature. It is impersonal and it does not see good things or bad things. It is receiving your thoughts and reflecting back to you those thoughts as your life experience. The law of attraction simply give you whatever it is that you are thinking about.

The law of attraction is the law of creation.

The law of attraction is always working, whether you believe it or understand it or not.

Like all the laws of nature, there is utter perfection in this law. You create your life. Whatever you sow, you reap! Your thoughts are seeds and the harvest you reap will depend on the seeds you plant.

The law is simply reflecting and giving back to yu exactly what you are focussing on with your thoughts. With this powerful knowledge, you can completely change every circumstance and eent in your entire life, by changing the way you think.

Change your thoughts and you can change your world.

Quickly...

I had the kitchen window open for awhile to air out. Apparently poor stupid Nell jumped out without me noticing.

Now she's by the fence in the side yard, looking at me through the window, like, "How'd I get out here and now what do I do?" ...If she was only intelligent enough to put those feelings into thoughts, which is highly doubtful.

Perhaps if I open the window again, she'll jump back in.

Silly kitty.

I awoke to thunder and a brief rain but now it's a bright, sunshiny (hot humid) day. If there's time, I've a swim in my near future.

There are blueberry almond (almost typed almost, damn you BilltheTailor!) steusel scones baking in the oven.

I washed a small apple along with the laundry this morning.

These three items brought to you by a peaceful Rowan this morning, erm, afternoon.

Ok, can somebody tell me about this event? Who's organizing it; where's the funding coming from; what's the marketing like; what's the setting like; where's the vendor and entertainment list; who's backing it....

Needless to say, I'm more than a tad skeptical about new faires popping up now.

SHOW ME THE MONEY and the MARKETING!

http://www.kingschampion.com/Contacts.htm

All that is, is a list of names and email addresses, nothing else. The contact name is now going the rounds of email amongst local musicians. NOTHING else. I want some real information.

*scowl* I'm not horribly impressed so far. Show me a decent web-site, at least; pictures of the park, something?

Dammit, that's the weekend that AmberBob and I have scheduled a mutual birthday bash at the MeltingPot. I don't want to change it unless there's a damned good chance of a quality event.

NOT surprised...

Southwestern Eggrolls (similar to Chili's)
(just ganked from da Cooking group and cleaned up the messy recipe)

Ingredients for filling:
3 chicken breast halves, shredded or cubed
2 tablespoons red bell pepper, minced
2 tablespoons green onion, minced
1/2 cup frozen corn
1/4 cup canned black beans, drained and rinsed
2 tablespoons frozen spinach, thawed and drained (chopped works better)
2 tablespoons diced jalepenos
1/2 tablespoon parsley, minced
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
dash of cayenne
3/4 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
5- 8" tortillas

Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook chicken. Once it begins to cook, stir in green onion and red pepper. Cook and stir 5 minutes, until tender.

Mix in corn, black beans, spinach, jalapeno peppers, parsley, cumin, chili powder, salt and cayenne pepper. Cook and stir 5 minutes, until well blended and tender. Remove from heat and stir in Monterey Jack cheese so that it melts.

Wrap tortillas with a clean, lightly moist cloth. Microwave on high approximately 1 minute, or until hot and pliable.

Spoon even amounts of the mixture into each tortilla. Fold ends of tortillas, then roll tightly around mixture. Secure with toothpicks. Arrange in a medium dish, cover with plastic, and place in the freezer. These are best if refrigerated for 24 hours.

In a large, deep skillet, heat oil for deep frying to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Deep fry frozen, stuffed tortillas 10 minutes each, or until dark golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Cut in half at an angle and serve!

Avocado dipping Sauce:
1/4 cup smashed, fresh avocado (about half of an avocado)
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon buttermilk
1 1/2 teaspoons white vinegar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon dried parsley
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
dash dried dill weed
dash garlic powder
dash pepper

Smash avocado. Combine all ingredients and mix well. Keep refrigerated.

Queen formal pose
We have a simply awesome wood crafter at WH, Hilton Handicrafts, and so I'm wanting to get him a pattern for the folding sort of throne chair that I've seen several places, most recently at Scarby, in fact, I sat in one during Chess Match last year when I visited as Mary Rose.

There used to be a vendor of them whom I met at Scarlet's but the web-site is no longer up.

Anybody know about what I'm talking? That slatted, curved chair with the leather sling seat which folds up....I SO wanna take this guy a pattern so he can give me an idea of what the costs would be to make one or several.

Thanks in advance...

I get the occasional email from 101 Cookbooks; nifty stuff.

This morning's entry, I just had to share:

Blackberry Limeade Recipe )

It's labor intensive but would be SO good. OH MY, and then I found THIS on her site!
Guilt free (nearly) Girl Scout Thin Mint cookie recipe )

If somebody made this for the White Hart booth, they'd sell out in a hart-beat! Oh yeah, for those who don't know, we're having a during-the-faire bake sale booth. Everyone, vendors included, are contributing treats; home-made, pre-packaged and LABELED with ingredients (we don't want to kill each other nor our patrons, do we?? And it would be good to have clearly marked those with healthier options such as 'no salt' or 'suger-free'! This was [info]ladybarnard's brilliant idea and it's going to be manned wenched by the very capable [info]mistresangelfur! In fact, I should simply re-post what she wrote:

"IF you were at morning meeting Sunday (and you should have been) it was announced that we will be having a bakery booth (bake sale) to benefit the Faire. Please bake bake bake this week to donate to the cause. If you can individually wrap and label the items (what it is, if it is sugar free, gluten free, nut free {for those with allergies} that would be incredibly helpful.

We are also looking for donations of staple items: cups for COFFEE ( I will provide powdered creamer and sugar packets) and lemonade, cling wrap, extra tables. I am also searching for a large 32 cup coffee maker one of the stainless steel ones and a large pump thermos that we can have in the booth as the maker will be elsewhere.

This is a benefit for White Hart any and all donations will be used to benefit the Faire. Tangeable items like the thermos and coffeemaker and tables will be returned last day.
If you have any other suggestions let me know and I will be happy to see what I can do.

Much Love
Ketherynne Farnham"

Found when looking for Mid-summer's Eve ritual ideas:

BAKLAVA

Ingredients:
2-cups unsalted butter
1/2 pound of phyllo dough
2 cups chopped pecans
1-1/2 tablespoons cloves, whole
3 cups water
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 cinnamon stick
1 cup honey

Directions:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Melt the butter over low heat. Pour 2 tablespoons of the butter into the bottom of a 9x13" baking pan. Layer 3 sheets of the phyllo dough in the pan. Trim dough to fit.
Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of pecans over the phyllo dough.
Layer 3 more sheets of dough and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of pecans.
Continue alternating dough & pecan layers until pan is 3/4 full.
With a sharp knife, score phyllo dough to form diamonds. Press a clove at each end of the diamonds. Pour remaining butter over the dough.
Bake 45 to 50 minutes, until dough is golden brown.
While dough is baking, combine the sugar, water and cinnamon stick in medium saucepan and bring to boil, stirring constantly. Simmer for 10 minutes (think I will add a dash of vanilla.)
Add the honey and simmer for 2 minutes longer. Remove from heat and discard cinnamon stick.
Pour honey mixture over hot baklava. Let cool on wire racks. Cut into diamonds. Makes 2 dozen.

Bruce and I did a telephone interview recently with a nice gal, Escarlata Cisneros of the blog FaireNews.com. It was a lively and fun interview and we've been looking forward to the article. She sent it to us to preview today and after just a couple minor corrections, it's gone live.

Here it is and I have to say I'm very pleased. She really 'caught' us quite well and has a very nice writing style.

Please go and read and support this nice lady. She uses Marc Gunn as her model and her ideal in blogging; I told her that she couldn't have a better ideal!
